BONNER COUNTY LAUNCHES ‘OPERATION GREEN LIGHT’ IN SUPPORT OF LOCAL VETERANS

Bonner County Commissioners approved a Proclamation in observance of Operation Green Light for Veterans, a new national collaborative, spearheaded by the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veteran Service Officers.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to participate in Operation Green Light by simply changing one light bulb in their house to a green bulb. This can be an exterior light that neighbors and passersby see or an interior light that sparks a conversation with friends.

Shining a green light lets our veterans know that they are seen, appreciated, and supported. Bonner County declares October through Veterans Day, November 11th, 2022, a time to salute and honor the service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform. While the event in Bonner County is occurring through Veterans Day, residents are encouraged to continue shining the light year-round.

“Operation Green Light is a simple way to express our collective appreciation for the public service of our veterans,” said NACo president Denise Winfrey. “We encourage everyone to join us in displaying a green light for our veterans and to also reflect on how we, as a nation and at the county level, assist our military service personnel back into civilian life upon completion of their service to our country.”

Visit www.naco.org/operationgreenlight for more information and links to resources available to veterans or contact Bonner County Veterans Services at 208-255-5291 ext. 1.

Meanwhile, to find out what's going on with your local VVA Chapter, please attend our meetings on the second Tuesday of every month at the VFW Hall on the corner of Division and Pine Streets in Sandpoint, Idaho. The meeting begins at 11 AM.
