About Us

Our General Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at 11 a.m. in the Sandpoint VFW Hall at the corner of Pine and Division Streets. We have much camaraderie and brotherhood, and a potluck too, but no alcohol or war stories!

The majority of our operational business is conducted separately by the Board of Directors. BoD actions and committee progress are then reported at the General Meeting where items requiring general membership approval are submitted for a vote.

The General Meeting is a 60-minute Board of Directors Report & Confirmation Briefing. Some meetings go longer when business demands. You are cordially invited to attend.

We are in service to veterans and the public. The following describes the greater part of what we do:
  • We provide connections to a counselor, who may also hold PTSD classes as well as partner and couple classes.
  • We help veterans and their families who may have a difficult time getting firewood for the season, from a supply donated by community service loggers, as well as others who perform this duty. We cut and split it, and coordinate pickup.
  • We provide some assistance with utilities, food, rent/mortgage, transportation, and construction projects for veterans, deployed active-duty personnel, and veterans' families, within limits and as money is available.
  • We participate in or arrange for military honors for funerals.
  • We participate in Memorial Day and 9/11 ceremonies, as well as the local 4th of July Parade.
  • We provide funds for community projects as we deem fit, and we have a scholarship program.
  • We donate to charities such as Coats for Kids and often provide meals to help veterans at Christmas.
  • We man booths at the annual Gun & Horn Show. We also have tables set up at the "Lost in the '50s" car show and at the Renaissance Fair. We are also involved in the annual "Veterans Patriotic Golf Scramble" along with the local Elks Lodge and other area Veterans groups. The Golf Scramble is held at the Sandpoint Elks Golf Course in September, complete with a silent auction and raffle featuring items and services donated by our very supportive community.
See our Coming Events page for more details.
Our membership is one of the largest in the state of Idaho. If you would like more information or have questions, please don't hesitate to call or email us.
