Text Box:     WELCOME HOME Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 890 Sandpoint Idaho We have a creed “Veterans Helping Veterans” and a very active chapter to this end. We provide funding for a counselor, who holds PTSD classes as well as partner and couples classes. We provide free firewood to needy Veterans/families from a supply donated by community service loggers. We help the Food Bank with funds. We provide assistance with utilities, food, rent/mortgage, transportation, and construction projects for needy Veterans and deployed active duty families. It’s not all work. We have an annual picnic in July, a huge yard sale in August and a Christmas gift exchange/party in December. We also have information booths at the annual Gun & Horn show and at the County Fair. In conjunction with the other Veterans groups, we participate in the Memorial Day ceremonies, July 4th parade, 9-11 ceremonies and of course military honors for funerals. Our meetings are generally short 45 minutes to 1 hour long — no war stories — and a social time — no alcohol. We meet the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the VFW Hall (corner of Division & Pine) in Sandpoint at 1800 (6pm). You are cordially invited to attend. It is open to all Vietnam Era Veterans. If you are interested in joining contact me or come to a meeting. The Chapter may even pay your lst year’s dues. Thereafter the dues will be $20 per year.
