The Public Affairs committee
has conducted an updated version of the
“Newsletter” work shop to include a daily
e-newsletter that we hope you have had a chance
to read and enjoy. We have sent it to our Web
Weekly email list and hope that they are
forwarding it to their VVA email tree. This is
a way for our members to get a sense of what is
being taught at the seminars and hopefully a
flavor of what is going on at the leadership
conference.
As Public Affairs Chair, I
want to thank Grant Coates and Carol Engle for
their work in writing the training seminar and
presenting it. It was one of the rare times
that I got to sit back and join the seminar as a
participant instead of being one of the
instructors. They did a fantastic job and the
feedback I heard from the other participants was
that they learned a lot and really enjoyed the
session.
This seminar included
information on what is a blog, social media, RSS
feeds, Google Alerts, setting up a blog, using
the blog as a Chapter web site, electronic
newspaper and examples of a functioning blog.
Plus Grant and Carol covered adding counters,
widgets, themes, photos and graphics to your web
site/blog. Two years from now, yes we are
already planning the next seminar; we hope to
expand on the digital evolution and hope that
you will join us.
